The Marginal Way Preservation Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with its mission to build a multi-million dollar endowment for the long-term conservation and preservation of Ogunquit’s iconic landmark, the Marginal Way. The MWPF is dedicated to procuring, managing and administering funds for projects related to the beautification, improvement and maintenance of this scenic coastal walkway. The Marginal Way Preservation Fund was formed in 2010 through generous contributions from local business leaders and received official 501(c)(3) status from the IRS in 2011.
The Preservation Fund is committed to ensuring that the path receives the necessary attention and care so that it can continue to be enjoyed by our community of walkers. The Fund actively works to create awareness around its mission and the sustainability needs of the coastal path with the audience of the hundreds of thousands of visitors who enjoy the walkway each year. Contributions to the Preservation Fund help to secure the Fund’s ability to respond to destruction along the coastal path and fund remediation projects that are required when unpredictable storm damage and natural erosion occur. Donors can donate to the MWPF through gift giving opportunities such as the Annual Appeal, Plaque Sales, Estate/Legacy gifts, and restricted donations.
The Marginal Way holds a special place in all of our hearts and plays a meaningful role in our lives. A walk along the iconic path is one that evokes a smile, puts one's mind at ease, and reinvigorates the soul - giving true meaning to “the way life should be.” Described by many as their coastal haven, the Marginal Way welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors each year seeking a place to relax, reflect and reconnect with nature. It has provided a beautiful backdrop for the treasured memories it has and will continue to create. The Marginal Way Preservation Fund is grateful to our loyal community of supporters who help ensure the beloved coastal path will be enjoyed for years to come.
