A new Party of Gold buy-back program will be held on Monday, February 20, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Dunaway Center, 23 School Street, Ogunquit, to benefit the Marginal Way Preservation Fund. Bring all your outdated or unused or broken gold and silver items to the Dunaway to receive payment on the spot.

Your gold will be weighed and evaluated and Party of Gold will make a 15% donation from its profits, not from your payment. For example, if the event for the day pays out $5,000 for all gold and silver that was evaluated, the MWPF would receive $750 after you have been paid.

For more information, contact jenniferS@partyofgold.com. They accept all colors and karats of gold, platinum and sterling silver. Tarnished items welcomed.

OGUNQUIT, ME. – Volunteers raised $31,624 to help preserve the Marginal Way ocean walk, according to the nonprofit organization.

“Large donations came from New Hampshire and New Jersey before we even opened the doors at the event,” said Catherine Palmer, executive director of the Marginal Way Preservation Fund, a nonprofit public charity.

The third annual “Best Meatloaf in Ogunquit Contest,” at Bintliff’s Restaurant, also featured 65 locally donated gifts and prizes, she said.

Judges tasted 21 meatloaves and awarded the first prize ribbon to Claire Bigbee, of Wells, who included figs and feta cheese in her recipe. Second prize went to Michael Jones of Perkins Real Estate, who used leeks to flavor his entry. Jacqui Grant of Almost Home Inn in Ogunquit won third place.

Others who volunteered at the event were Janice Kirshner, Michelle Melansen, Paulie Duchesne, Norm Herbert, Amy Kelly, “J.” Giles and Kathy Tower Koppstein.

OGUNQUIT, Maine – The board of the Marginal Way Preservation Fund appointed Catherine Palmer Executive Director of the nonprofit organization, according to board president Paul Breen.

Hired in September 2010 as Development Director, Palmer created the Preservation Fund’s infrastructure, including a membership program, virtual deeds, annual giving campaign, creative web site, E-newsletter and planned giving program.

“Her efforts in building public awareness of the need for a Marginal Way Endowment Fund have been outstanding,” Breen said. ”The board has full confidence that she can generate sufficient funds to preserve the Marginal Way for the next generation.

The Marginal Way Preservation Fund, a 501(c)(3) public charity, was formed in 2010 with support from local business leaders. Its mission is to create an Endowment sufficient to generate interest revenue to meet the long-term financial needs of the Marginal Way.

The Marginal Way Preservation Fund works closely with the Marginal Way Committee, a panel of the Town of Ogunquit that is dedicated to beautification and protection of the Marginal Way.

As Executive Director, Palmer will manage the Fund’s day-to-day operations, assist the board with strategic planning and create public relations programs to expand the donor base and attract contributors.

“We will expand our membership program to reach new donors and create naming opportunities for major gifts,” she said.

Before joining the Marginal Way Preservation Fund, Palmer was a grant writer for nonprofit organizations. She lives in Saco, Maine.

About the Marginal Way

In 1925, Josiah Chase of York deeded a magnificent strip of Maine coastline to the Town of Ogunquit. The popular mile-long footpath offers breathtaking views of the Maine coastline.
